PHILIPPINE FAIRE POPULARITY CONTEST WINNERS CROWNED

The winners of the Council of Philippine American Organizations of San Diego County’s Philippine Faire 2005 Popularity Contest were officially crowned at fitting rites held at the Grand Ballroom of San Diego's Town and Country Resort and Convention Center on May 13, 2006.

The well-attended affair was graced by the presence of families and friends, and dignitaries such as Congressman Bob Filner, Representative of California’s 51st District; Mitz Lee, Vice-President of the San Diego Unified School District Board; congressional candidate for the 50th District Brian Bilbray, and  Cheryl Cox, candidate for Chula Vista Mayor..

After an invocation by Marie Bee Aguinaldo, everyone was welcomed by Regina Agarma, chairperson of the Popularity Contest and Coronation Ball Committee. Mrs. Agarma thanked the candidates and their families and friends for supporting COPAO and the Filipino-American community through their efforts and contributions.

Rita Buencamino Andrews, president of COPAO, acknowledged the presence and support of the various dignitaries in attendance, including past presidents of COPAO, and the presidents of various Filipino-American organizations. She thanked everyone for the recognition and assistance extended to COPAO, as it strives to benefit the community with its many projects and activities. Rita also extended an invitation to everyone to visit and participate in Philippine Faire 2005 at Kimball Park, National City, on June 10 and 11.

After a sumptuous dinner for everyone, outgoing Mrs. Philippine Faire 2005 Belen Mateo, outgoing Miss Philippine Faire 2005, Christene Joy Manlal-lan, Miss Teen Philippine Faire 2005 Rachael Anne Nobles Lomax, Little Miss Philippine Faire 2005 Mikayla Camille Bermudez walked down the aisle for a final promenade as they bid everyone a fond farewell after a year as reigning queens. They were awarded plaques of recognition by Julio De Guzman, COPAO Executive Vice President, in recognition of their “outstanding performance, dedication, loyalty and integrity in the service of the organization.”

After a sumptuous dinner, the stage was set for the promenade and crowning of the Queens and their Royal Court. Those recognized were the following:

The Royal Court of the Philippine Faire Queens was composed of the following:

The Queens and their Royal Court were serenaded by Lito Atangan and Lito Bautista.

The rest of the evening was spent dancing to the music provided by Celso Macaspac of Mabuhay DJ. All had a wonderful time. The queens had been crowned, and their reign had began!
