REQUIREMENTS FOR AUTHENTICATION/ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF DOCUMENTS
* Personal appearance with photo identitication cards such as Driver's License, State Identification Card, valid passport or Resident Alien Card;
* Documents to be notarized by a duly authorized Notary Public;
* Signature of Notary Public to be authenticated by your local County Clerk or Secretary of State;
* Submit one photocopy of each document for the Consulate's file;
* Fee of US $25.00 per document in cash/postal money order/cashier's check payable to the Philippine Consulate General;
* Additional US $6.00 for mailing or send a self-addressed stamped envelope.
PROCEDURE FOR REACQUIRING FILIPINO CITIZENSHIP UNDER R.A. 9225 (DUAL CITIZENSHIP)
For Former Filipinos who are now American Citizens
(NOTE: THE APPLICANT WILL NOT LOSE HIS/HER AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP)
* Applicant submits a petition under oath indicating his/her desire to reacquire Filipino citizenship under R.A. 9225. (Note: The Consulate has an application form that will serve as the applicant's petition.)
* Supporting documents and requirements:
1. Five (5) recent 2" x 2" colored photos on white background. (3 front and 1 left and 1 right side views showing the ear.)
2. Birth Certificate (Note: Original copy should be submitted to the Consulate). For applicants born abroad, the original copy of the Report of Birth, issued by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate and in applicable cases, the Birth Certificate issued by foreign authorities.
3. Signed Oath of Allegiance (form available from the Consulate).
4. Fee of US $50.00
5. Photocopy of U.S. Passport
6. Photocopy of the Certificate of Naturalization
7. Fee of US $50.00 for the Philippine Passport
* The petition and its supporting documents are then submitted to an evaluating officer in the Consulate. If the petition is sufficient in form and substance, a recommendation is submitted to the Consul General..
* The Consul General / Consul issues an Order of Approval for the petition, which also includes the time and place for the administration of the Oath of Allegiance on the applicant by the Consul General / Consul or by a duly commissioned Foreign Service Officer. The administration of the Oath of Allegiance by a Consular Officer is the final act that confers Philippine Citizenship.
* The petitioner should apply for a Philippine Passport after taking the Oath of Allegiance.
* Upon receipt of the pertinent documents, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) shall issue the corresponding Identification Certificate upon presenting yourself at the Bureau of Immigration in Manila. For BI-registered aliens, the BI shall also cancel the subject Alien Certificate of Registration.
