VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE (VITA) PROGRAM
With the assistance of the Internal Revenue Service, COPAO's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program or VITA aims to assist you in the preparation and completion of your federal and state income tax returns. We can file taxes electronically or by producing the necessary documents in hardcopy which you would need to mail in, depending on the nature of your return. Our volunteer staff personnel are trained and experienced in both federal and state tax regulations and are knowledgeable of all the forms and legal requirements. VITA is a program that COPAO initiated more than five years ago, and it has helped a good number of residents of San Diego County prepare and file their income tax returns . . . for FREE.
This year's VITA Program is headed by long-time VITA Coordinator Normita Atangan, who is
also COPAO's Vice President for Finance.
Hours of Operation
Because most of our volunteers have day jobs, our hours are primarly on
Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you make a prior appointments for
a weekday, it will be scheduled after 6:00 p.m. .
This year, VITA services will be conducted at the COPAO Center, 832 E Avenue, National
